Although qualified (AC accredited supervisor) Neil uses his previous wide experience and brings this to his supervision sessions in the form of a natural presence. A face to face session is used to build rapport. Supervision can then take place on the telephone, Zoom or Skype which can benefit from Neil’s acute listening skills.

Neil comes from a practical perspective and is well read on many different models, he tends to cut through the complexity and bring issues back to simple headlines. Options, if not solutions, are normally borne out of this method.

Many of the issues coaches bring to supervision arise out of a lack of clarity when contracting, either at the beginning or because of changes that occur - Neil is very good at spotting these situations.

Many coaches work too hard with their coachees because they want to get a good result on behalf of their client. Even though we have been trained not to do this, it is easy for us all to fall into this trap. Neil recognises this and feeds back accordingly.

With the help of Neil's NLP training, he is very watchful for body language or a change of tone of voice which often signifies that the supervisee is missing something. Focus at the right time clarifies many aspects.
