Participant’s Perspectives
“I found the course both challenging and inspiring , it provided a safe space to explore my white privilege and opened up conversations with fellow coaches and supervisors . It made me more consciously aware of all the subtle nuances of advantage. I noticed more in the news, local events and the historic and lasting impacts of colonisation . Mentioning the course to clients also opened up conversations , they shared their experience of difficult times .The course helped me raise my awareness and listen more profoundly to their stories , it was uncomfortable at times but cathartic for them and me . I would love to do a follow up session it felt like I’d only peeled the first few layers of the onion and I am still work in progress . Thank you Marie and Fenella for your compassionate navigation of this challenging topic.”
Carol Whitaker Executive Coach, Mentor , Facilitator and Coach Supervisor
“The programme offered many different kinds of information that invited an intellectual engagement, alongside experiencing the emotional impact. For me this was incredibly powerful from the very first meeting. It connected with me at a very deep level and this awareness continues to live on in an integrated way within me. On a head level it has informed me about the many complexities and intersectionality of working with diversity. The programme provided a very grounded and real start to working as a white group on these topics. As a coach and supervisor, I am far braver and more courageous in my conversations about how differences might live in the space between us or others/wider systems. I am far more up for having a go, than getting it right. I am prepared to be uncomfortable and take risks that previously, I would have not even been conscious of . Thanks to you both for co creating such a profound programme.”
Benita Treanor, Coach Supervisor
