I try to bring a natural empathy for the executive's complex reality and to the supervisory relationship. I understand the limitations of my clients' situation, and I'm enthusiastic about the possibilities for my clients and keen to gently push the boundaries of future possibilities.
After gaining five years of experience as a coach and a career counsellor for executives and consultants, I started to work as a supervisor and accreditor for other coaches. I am now Professor of Organisation Development and Coaching at VU University and Ashridge.
With over twenty years of experience in organisational and personal development and a personal interest in philosophy and drama, I bring new perspectives which my clients will find insightful.
I have written several articles about coaching and consulting supervision and a handbook for supervisors: Supervision in Action (Dutch edition: Van Gorcum, 2011; English edition: McGraw-Hill, 2012). Since 2005 I have managed and facilitated the 3-weekly open supervision groups for executive coaches at Ashridge and since 2009 have co-directed, with Michael Carroll, the Ashridge Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Supervision for Executive Coaches and OD Consultants (see www.ashridge.org.uk/acos).
I am professor at the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam and a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Philosophy of Management, APA's Consulting Psychology Journal and for the Dutch Journal of Coaching.
