The importance of self-care and supervision

AoCS January Webinar: Coaching Stories: Flowing and Falling of Being a Coach

How bold are you in your sharing?

Join us to explore our mutual experiences of being a coach and the value of supervision, with Karen Dean MCC and Sam Humphrey

We shall read stimulating stories from our book, from our experience as coaches and practising supervisors. The intention is to create a space for you to relate to, and reflect on, your own resonant personal examples. This respectful exchange will reveal strengths and areas for development and the implications of those.

There is much written about 'how to do' coaching and the focus here is what's it really like 'being' a coach, with all its joys and challenges. Coaches in supervision have needs, expectations of care, as well as a desire for growth and development. Coaches often seek supervision when the personal has impacted the professional. Their way of being is likely to have been compromised. It is important for us to speak openly and honestly about the consequences. Together we can share best practice and interrogate our approaches, enhancing our professional skills.

The session will conclude by positioning, in the relationship of supervision, the celebration and learning which comes from acknowledging the times when a coach's work flowed.
