Relational Supervision webinar: Unfolding within and between 

This webinar will explore an understanding of relational supervision and the stance and practice of working relationally as a supervisor.

• What is ‘relational’ supervision? 

• How is it the same as and different from ‘non-relational’ supervision? 

• What are relational lenses for normative, formative and restorative supervision? 

• How might you use yourself – and metaphor, intuition, imagination and improvisation to reveal yourself and the other from within yourself – in relational supervision? 

Context:

We are always in relationship – with ourselves, with others, with issues and their significance in different situations, contexts and cultures, here and now. Noticing, attending to and working with the relational ‘non-conscious’ in the moment often reveals what supervisees didn’t know they knew. It also often reveals in a supervisor’s use of self a felt sense of the experience of the supervisee.

Mairi is based in Edinburgh and has worked in the field of learning and development for over 20 years.  She is a qualified and accredited coach and supervisor, who often works with health and social care practitioners. She has a special interest in work-based relationships and how they influence individuals, teams and organisational culture. Mairi has recently completed a course in Attachment Narrative Therapy at the Bowlby Centre and is now developing her interest in how attachment issues present in the workplace.

Alastair is based in Fife and has had a broad leadership and organisational development practice in oil and gas and public-sector organisations for over 20 years. He is also a qualified and accredited coach and supervisor, who now works mostly with leaders, consultants and change agents, HR and OD Business Partners, and some internal and external coaches, often in international and multi-cultural contexts. Alastair is currently completing an action research professional doctorate in organisational change.
